Hōmyōin Park

This garden was opened by Gitan Oshō in 1724 (9th year of Kyōho Era). From his personal record we know that the garden was arranged in that period and that was visited by personalities of time such as Emperor Reigen. We can still see the “white spring” that he mentions. From this garden arranged around the oblong pond, it is possible to admire one of the most beautiful view of Lake Biwa. It his a special place inside the Miidera.
