Akaiya

Akaiya consists in an accommodation prepared with flowers and water (Aka, the sacred Buddhist water) for Buddha. Like Kondō, it is an elegant building in Momoyama style. It is been told that Emperor Tenchi, Emperor Tenmu and Emperor Jitō took there their first bath, which is the reason for the name Miidera. “The sacred spring of the three wells” surges there and a mysterious murmuring can still be heard.
