Enman-in

Enman-in was commissioned in 987 by Goen Hōshinnō, son of the Emperor Murakami.
The Shinden, Ceremonial Hall, an Important Cultural Property, was relocated from the Imperial Palace in Kyoto to Miidera in 1647 and is a masterpiece of the Momoyama era Shoin style architecture.
As the 25th temple in the Kinki 36 Fudō Myō-Ō Pilgrimage, it is well known as a holy spot for appeasing the souls of aborted fetuses.
There is a Shukubō, lodgings for visitors and pilgrims, and Ōtsu-e Musuem in the temple grounds.
